Having this platform, and this network of people who engage with our work virtually has proved to have many real-life benefits.
Here are some that are especially good:
- Getting cookies delivered from Switzerland by one of our first followers from beyond Austria. She actually came and attended one of our workshops while visiting Graz (Sofía González Gómez, who then welcomed one of our ex-postdocs in her new workplace, where she got a tenure-track role!).
- Sparking interest among our University of Graz scholars who notice an offer of ours at a time when it comes in handy for them, and then get in touch so we can provide coaching, funding, brainstorming sessions or suggest a training.
- Being noticed as a helpful "loudspeaker" by the other units at Uni Graz who give their expertise to researchers and who want to shine a light on specific opportunities when they come up.
- Shaping discussions and - thanks to the fantastic and well-connected colleagues who follow us - actually becoming a bit famous with our Research Careers Campus approach towards a more friendly research culture, marked by academic kindness and pizza.
- Attracting the attention of postdocs who are not in Graz, but can very well imagine working here, and joining our community at writing retreats and the occasional fiasco fest.
Thanks to all of you who engage with our content here, to everyone who reaches out and gives feedback, and to all who continue to show up and trust us with their challenges and joys.
