Poetic shitstorms in ancient texts, use of digital media for classical philology, greek heroines, and happiness in greek philosophy are some of Markus Hafner's topics in teaching and research at the University of Graz. On September 5, 2023 it was announced that he has been awarded a Starting Grant of the European Research Council to study collective authorship. The funding of €1,5 million for his project COLLAPSE – Collaboration and Pseudepigraphy. Facing the Anonymous in Imperial Greek Literature will allow him to build an international team of two postdoctoral and four doctoral researchers.
The PostDoc Office is delighted and congratulates Markus Hafner on this achievement! He is among a select group of 19 researchers from Austrian universities who were awarded the Starting Grants this year, and the only one at the University of Graz (ERC Starting Grants: 400 bright minds awarded over €628 million). We are very much looking forward to the start of this research project and wish the new team the most exciting time in studying this fascinating topic!
