Description: In the (digital) public sphere, especially on social media, science communication means creatively addressing the opportunities and risks of publicity. In an era of growing polarisation and crisis, new opportunities and responsibilities are emerging for science communication. In this workshop, we will:
• Reflect on how science communication interacts with current social developments;
• Discuss how controversial and ‘risky’ topics can present opportunities for creative and constructive science communication;
• Consider how we can safely position ourselves as communicators in this area of tension.
About the trainer: Peter Pichler is a cultural historian, interested in the influence of social developments on heavy metal (among other things!), blogs about his research and has shared it on many stages.
