Fiasco Fest 2023

How to joyfully move from rejection and failure to your best professional self

Rejection is a normal part of academia - and we aim to make it fun! The PostDoc Office's Fiasco Fest is a night where career misfortunes in academia are shared, drinks are served, laughs are had, and we celebrate each other as the excellent researchers we are, resiliently moving towards our best professional selves.

  • Facilitator: Assoz.-Prof.in Mag.a Dr.in Sabine Bergner (University of Graz), leadership and entrepreneurship expert, psychologist
  • Location: Workshopraum (0057EG0005) im historischen Gewächshaus im botanischen Garten (Schubertstr. 59)
  • Registration: postdoc@uni-graz.at

Target group are pre- and postdoctoral researchers from all the universities in Graz. Together, you will work out how to productively approach those Fiasco-like experiences which are a normal part of an academic career. This might include building a "rejection CV" and other creative methods to showcase your perceived misfortunes. You will be expertly guided by the facilitator in ways of dealing with these experiences; learning from them, integrating them, letting them go, moving on. The night will end with an exercise in "letting go" - and maybe arranging how to keep in touch with the other brilliant researchers you will have met!
