Finding Your Why: Purpose For Early Career Academics, 13.03.2023

Workshop-Leitung: Dr. Pranay Sanklecha

13:00 bis 17:00 Uhr, Universität Graz

An academic career is hard. You’re constantly judged. You’re constantly competing. You’re overworked, stressed, and tired. You move around every few years, you live from contract to contract.

Why are you still doing this? Should you still be doing this?
When you can answer those questions, when you understand whether and why you’re doing this, when you can feel and experience that understanding in your daily life, it liberates energy, strength, and courage.
If you want something more tangible: it also gives you the ability to finish another damn funding application.

In Finding Your Why we’ll directly investigate your purpose as it relates to your academic career. And we’ll also give you a conceptual framework and a set of tools that will help you think about your purpose yourself, in academic and other contexts.

Dr.phil Pranay Sanklecha studied at Oxford, Bern, and Graz and was until very recently an assistant professor of philosophy on the tenure-track the at the University of Graz. In that capacity, he worked on a habilitation on the topic of the search for meaning in one’s life. He knows through experience, research, and extensive reflection the difficulties involved in being an early-career academic, and uses that to help others who are in similar situations. Pranay is the founder of the philosophical practice Darshana.
