We are delighted to pass on a message by Mireille van Poppel:
Dear colleagues!
The University of Graz actively strives to create a democratic and non-discriminatory environment in which the diversity of our students and staff members is valued and promoted as the central basis of our community. Hence, I am particularly pleased to introduce the Diversitybuddies as a new initiative of the AntiBias-Circle. Diversitybuddies are easily approachable, visible, and confidential points of contact for questions and concerns related to equality and diversity. In their role, they provide case specific referrals to the many counseling and support services at the University of Graz and beyond. At the same time, they are multipliers for diversity-sensitive competencies at their respective institutes, centers, departments & institutions. They are prepared for their role by participating in an introductory workshop. Their commitment as Diversitybuddies is recorded in UNIGRAZonline and, in the future, in the Activity Framework, and they receive guaranteed spots in thematically related workshops in continuing education programs at the University of Graz.
All staff members of the University of Graz who are committed to diversity or wish to become so and voluntarily express their interest can become Diversitybuddies and carry out the associated tasks during their working hours. In doing so, they make an important contribution to the University of Graz as a place where everyone feels valued and can thrive.
Thus, I would be delighted by your commitment as a Diversitybuddy! Further information can be found at https://diversitaet.uni-graz.at/en/diversitybuddies/. Those who are interested please contact diversitybuddies(at)uni-graz.at or call 0316 380 - 2085.
Yours sincerely,
Mireille van Poppel
Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Equal Opportunities
