Humanities Careers: Between Austria, China and Sweden

Watch the recording of the 2nd alumni post.talk!

Helga Müllneritsch (Uppsala), Isabella Manago (Graz) and Amelia Kennedy (Graz) talk humanities careers. They discuss – among other things – their appreciation of the materiality of archival research, the material turn in the humanities, how to deal with heavy books when you move, how academia works in Austria, China, Sweden, the US and Germany, what kinds of postdoctoral contracts bring what kinds of challenges and benefits, as well as language skills needed when being an international doctoral or postdoctoral researcher.

Key words: female agency, book history, 18th century, material turn, postdoc abroad, PhD abroad, Sweden, language, mobility.

The interview took place on April 21, 2022 and can be found here: alumniUNIgraz - YouTube
