3mt logos

Come along to watch PhD candidates slam about their research!

The Doctoral Academy Graz will host a 3MT competition in 2024!

Pass this info on to all the PhD candidates in your life and come along to watch them perform!

Here is the info from the Doctoral Academy website:

The Graz 3MT competition will take place on March 15, 2024 at 7 p.m. in the Literaturhaus, Elisabethstraße 30.

Wondering if you are up to the challenge? We will give you the training and information you need!

  • Information event: On January 25, 2024 from 2-3 p.m. we will give you an overview of the competition, the rules, the judging criteria, the coaching we provide as well as some practical information.
  • Workshop and Training: On February 8, 9 and 12, 2024 you have the possibility to take part in the preparatory workshop. On March 7, 2024 you will have a final training for the competition.
  • Preparatory Meeting in the Literaturhaus - if you want, you can rehearse your performance on stage

How to apply
Send a mail to doktorat(at)uni-graz.at with your name + field of study + a summary of your doctoral thesis in three clear-cut sentences until 18th January 2024.
A jury will select the 3MT 2024 contestants. The applicants will be informed about the decision by January 23, 2024 the latest.

Eligibility
The 3MT is about communicating research results, not mere research plans. Therefore, active doctoral researchers (i.e. prior to thesis defense, no graduates) are eligible to participate if and only if they have already achieved substantial research results that can and have to be presented in the presentation. Thus the target group most likely consists of doctoral candidates in the last year of their thesis. Graduates are not eligible.

The Prize
Winner 1000 Euro
People’s Choice 500 Euro
